Meet the Ritas...
The Rebel Ritas have been performing at fundraisers for the past three years as the All Girl - All Star Band. At the beginning of 2008, the ladies decided it was time to take their sassy style on the road. Now four of Calgary’s most talented women have formed this exciting All-Women cover band. These talented women can rock your socks off with their hard hitting rock 'n roll tunes or bring a tear to your eye with their melodic country ballads.
Kate Lewis is the lead singer and pulse behind the Rebel Ritas. Kate's rare talent is evident by her ability to sing with genuine feeling. Kate has been successfully hosting the WomenROCK the Shamrock fundraising jams for the last four years. Her powerful vocals and determination have proven to be a dynamic force guiding the Rebel Ritas.
Carla Rawlyck is the guitar leader of the RITAS. Performing and teaching piano and guitar in Calgary, Carla has been involved with music for over 20 years. Her love of music and a dream to play rock guitar has brought Carla to the RITAS. Her impassioned playing makes Carla a must have for the Rebel Ritas.
Monika Carey is the bassist for the RITAS. Playing in the Calgary music scene for many years, the RITAS welcome Monika's experience and dedication. Along with her steady licks, Monika adds her amazing harmonies to the Rebel Ritas mix.
Lauren Buckell is the newest addition to the RITAS. Lauren made her professional debut on the Calgary music scene with the RITAS. Lauren has been playing percussion for over 10 years in many different music genres. This young percussionist brings her own beats and flavor to the Rebel Rita's sound.
